Hi friends! Today I am here with my new article which I hope will be very helpful for most of you guys out there. Actually, the write protection issue is a very common one with the people using removable storages or external hard drives for storing files, such as movies, songs, pictures, etc. or just backing up their crucial data.
The issue is also more common in some of the USB Manufacturer Brands, such as San Disk, Kingston, Toshiba, etc. Hence, this post will be helpful to all of these types and of course, to all other brands.
There are so many posts available on the internet, but this post is something different, from any of them. Because most of them are from any software selling company who just want their product to be sold by showing you some screenshot or anything else. But, that doesn't mean, any software that worked for them, would fix your problem too or maybe there is a more easy way, or there is no problem with your Pendrive at all. Whereas, I wrote this post, by using the fixes for myself, hence, they are truly tested and also I am going to tell you as many ways as possible to fix this problem, to the best of my knowledge. So, I hope, one of them will work for you too.
Also, be sure to keep in mind, that if anything goes wrong, I will not be the one responsible for that. So, be fully sure and read carefully all the instructions provided before using the fixes so that you are fully aware of what exactly are you doing.
Ok, enough of the pep talk. Let's get straight to the point and start the post.
PHYSICAL LOCKS
The most basic fix of this problem is the physical write protection switch provided to the user by certain manufacturers. They provide it on the body of the Pendrive or hard disk itself to provide easy access to the service. So, go ahead and see if yours also has some sort of switch or something and be surprised. If not, or if it, not even the culprit, move to the next one.
LITTLE VIRUS CHECKING
Yup! Maybe it is any suspicious external unwanted little horrid thing that may be messing with your storage device. So now, time to do a quick scan of your PC for any viruses, trojan or malware. Use any good and reliable antivirus software for that. Check
this post for a little help on this.
CHECK FILE SYSTEM
Now, time to do something technical now. Till now, if nothing fixed your problem of write protection, then you must move on to the technical part of the fix. You now have to check the USB Drive's properties to check for its file system. So, if you are a Windows PC User, then you must have NTFS, FAT, FAT32 file system of your Pendrive. If you are a Linux user, actually, any file system will work on that. So, this one is not for those users anyway. But, if you are a Macintosh user, your PC will not recognize NTFS file system, you must use "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" format. So, just go ahead and check if you are using the right file system for your particular machine.
USING REGISTRY EDITOR
So now, if none of the upper fixes work for you, we still have luck. We will talk about how to do it. But make sure your removable media is attached to your machine first.
Well, that's it. Your read-only error should now be fixed. If still not, move to the next one.
USING USB REPAIR TOOL

So now, we have no choice to fix it, but using external software. But, these are the reliable software that always worked for me. I hope it works for you too. But again, be sure and certain before proceeding further that you want to do it.
Note: This method is going to get your memory card or Pendrive formatted, so be sure to backup your data before proceeding further.
